Think about how convenient texting is. You can pretty much talk to people from ANYWHERE without the akwardness of running out of things to say. But with texting, you have to say less, so you can say things later. And you have more time to think about what to say.
Ah, yes and it helps you avoid the people who answer your phone trying to give you crap about leaving messages...I mean, I don't even KNOW that woman... Why would I leave her a message?! But seriously, that is always an awkward time for me, I'm just like "Yeahh, I rang you...but you weren't there. So, uh, ring back!" *
